for maximum safety you should have sex 3 days before or after menstruation. they say 5 days is still save but i cannot really say.

oh by the way do not rely too much on rhytm method as this is not very accurate. condoms are still the best in pregnancy prevention.

10 days from the day 1 of menstruation are safe days. Don't rely on the days before the menstruation esp. when you have irregular menstruation.

I wouldn't rely on the rhythm method alone. There's no exact science to it and it's not 100% effective. I would either use condoms or ask your doctor for birth control pills or other treatments. Condoms are not that expensive and plus, they'll protect one against transmitting or catching any STD's.
